Network Engineer

About the position: 

This role will be responsible for providing solutions to client business challenges through the implementation of small and mid-size business technology.  The key to success will be to provide superior customer service utilizing strong technical knowledge and effective communication to meet the needs of our clients.

  • Perform regularly scheduled server and workstation maintenance
  • Provide remote support to clients for workstations, servers, and network equipment
  • Provide onsite technical support to clients in the Chicago area
  • Assist with client server and workstation installations and migrations
  • Create and maintain positive customer relationships
  • Prepare formal recommendations for hardware and software-based IT solutions after performing analysis and documenting findings
  • Provide 2nd Tier help desk support
  • Update time entry and troubleshoot tickets daily
  • A minimum of 1+ year of experience in a Tier 2 Helpdesk role or as a Systems Administrator
  • “Must haves”
    • Providing both remote and onsite technical support in the following technologies:
      • Microsoft Windows Desktop Operating Systems (Windows 7, Windows 10)
      • Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems (2008, 2012, 2016 and 2019)
      • Understanding of Networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP)
      • Understanding of Network Firewalls, Switches, and Routers
      • Backup and DR software (Veeam, Datto, Cloud Providers)
      • Antivirus and Antispam software
      • Microsoft Office 2013/2016/Office365 including Visio and Project
  • “Nice-to-haves”:
    • Virtualization VMware/Hyper-V (working knowledge)
  • Excellent communication skills
