About the position: 

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer with Black Line, you will be a part of a growing team that is committed to providing the Gold Standard level of service to our customers in the small, midsize market. You will be an Account-Owner, meaning that you will provide system design, implementation, and support for those assigned customers and assist other BL Engineers in solving infrastructure related requests. You will provide oversight of assigned accounts and will be accountable for all activities conducted by Black Line personnel within those customers.

  • Server management:
    • Server 2012, 2016, and 2019 deployment
    • Advanced Active Directory management
    • Domain Controller migration and upgrades
    • File Services, shares permissions
    • DNS, DHCP
  • Networking:
    • TCP/IP protocol and understanding
    • Layer 3 routing
  • Virtualization:
    • VMware – ESXi, vCenter
    • Hyper – V
  • Cloud Services:
    • MS365 – including knowledge in services and licensing
    • DNS- Public DNS Management
  • General helpdesk/desktop support


  • Advanced, broad and expert knowledge of Black Line supported technologies
  • Demonstrates ability to independently evaluate and recommend appropriate technical solutions.
  • Advanced troubleshooting capabilities and independently, or through appropriate collaboration, independently address technical issues.
  • Provide technical assistance to other Black Line resources as needed
  • Manage client service levels and expectations
  • Manage client quality, service or other incidents that involve production
  • Consistently demonstrate the value of personal relationships, build and maintain trust
  • Seek and build relationships at the highest level within assigned accounts
  • Consistently communicate service, quality and financial expectations with assigned accounts
  • Adapt to communication and personality styles of each assigned account
  • Develop expert level knowledge in at least one infrastructure related technology
  • Provide input and suggestions for your own personal development plan
  • Provide input for personal development plans of other BL Engineers
  • Review workload, assess capacity and prioritize response
  • Assist other engineers with task completion
  • Project Management:
    • Ensure project budgets are adhered to
    • Project schedule is accurate and managed appropriately
    • Solutions are aligned with defined requirements
    • Manage client expectations accordingly
    • Address any billing or scope issues accordingly
  • Proactive services are being properly completed for assigned accounts
  • Monitoring system is properly managed, and alerts addressed for assigned accounts
  • Manage new client on-boarding process for assigned accounts
  • Vendor communication for tasks related to assigned accounts
  • Financial
    • Review time entries of assigned resources for accuracy and completeness
    • Manage accuracy of monthly Account Summary Reports for assigned accounts
    • Collaborate with Accounting Department to ensure billing accuracy of assigned accounts
  • Sales support
    • Provide input, adjustments and recommendations for solutions of assigned accounts
    • Approve content and accuracy of proposals prior to Client/Prospect presentation
    • Coordinate with Purchasing Department with purchase requests for assigned accounts
    • Responsible to identify new business opportunities outside assigned accounts
  • Prepare regular status reports for Execute Management
  • Reach decisions independently with minimal guidance from Executive Management
  • Develop deep technical and organizational knowledge of assigned accounts
  • Identify best practice opportunities within assigned accounts
  • Identify key technologies and associated reliance within assigned accounts
  • Be able to calculate return on investment and business case for recommended technologies
  • Regularly analyze and evaluate the use of technology and associated value for assigned accounts
  • Continually set service level, quality and financial expectations for assigned accounts
  • Identify best practice recommendations and technology adjustments for assigned accounts
  • Identify policies, process or end-user issues to increase effective use of technology within assigned accounts
