Network Engineer

About the position: 

This role will be responsible for providing solutions to client business challenges through the implementation of small and mid-size business technology.  The key to success will be to provide superior customer service utilizing strong technical knowledge and effective communication to meet the needs of our clients.

  • Perform regularly scheduled server and workstation maintenance
  • Provide remote support to clients for workstations, servers, and network equipment
  • Provide onsite technical support to clients in the Chicago area
  • Assist with client server and workstation installations and migrations
  • Create and maintain positive customer relationships
  • Prepare formal recommendations for hardware and software-based IT solutions after performing analysis and documenting findings
  • Provide 2nd Tier help desk support
  • Update time entry and troubleshoot tickets daily

1-2 years in a technical consulting role providing both remote and onsite technical support preferred.

1-2 years experience in the following technologies:

  • Microsoft Windows Desktop Operating Systems (XP, Vista, Windows 7)
  • Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems (2003 and 2008)
  • Microsoft Windows SBS (2003, 2008 and 2011)
  • Understanding of Networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP)
  • Understanding of Network Firewalls, Switches, and Routers
  • Backup and DR software (Symantec Backup Exec)
  • Antivirus and Antispam software
  • Microsoft Office 2003/2007/2010 including Visio and Project
  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills
  • Microsoft and other certifications a plus
  • IP Telephony a plus
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Comfortable with interacting with end-users at all levels
  • Ability to be team player and function independently when appropriate
  • Excellent Time Management skills
  • Excellent organizations skills
  • High attention to detail
